Seo Leeds

So you have joined the online revolution and have a web site to be proud of,but somehow neither you or your prospective customers can find you.

So what do you do now? The Internet contains billions of websites, all of them competing for visibility, how are you going to get yours on the page of your desired search engine?

You need "search engine optimisation", or SEO as it is called for short. It provides the search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing, with the means to understand what your site is all about. It will let them know about your business and the services you offer.

SEO is as important as putting fuel in your car, giving your site the virtual shop window you need to be successful online.

A lot of business owners do not understand SEO and it gets

overlooked. SEO is a collection of essential words and phrases called keywords that describe your website and its contents to the search engines. Anyone who enters a search phrase that matches them should be seeing your site on the first page.

The closer the match, the higher your site is ranked in the natural search results. Now there is a right way to do this and a wrong way and if you get it wrong ( Black Hat)it could get you to be banned from Google.

Google uses a complex algorithm to work out rankings and it has guidelines on optimisation techniques to avoid people trying to trick their way to the top.

In the early days, just using popular search terms like "Britney Spears" could almost guarantee a top results. Now it is all about content and page relevancy to a search phrase, and new content.

It is also a popularity contest, the more sites you have linking to yours the higher the search engines will place you. The more relevent the content the better you are placed again.

SEO can be a long slog and no one can gurantee the top spot. If you are out saucing make sure you work with a company you can trust. Ask to see proof of work before you part with your money.

A good optimisation strategy can take up to six months depending on your choice of keywords. A good SEO company can do this quicker but google likes to see a slow rise.

If you get to the top too soon often you will see it fall at the same pace.

Do it right and you will reap the rewards.
